Damn snow! After driven 5 hrs to Sacramento Wed. I got a call three hrs before my flight from the graduate director at the Minnesota telling me the orientation was cancelled due to a blizzard. Disappointed I drove back home only to get an email from the same person asking me to fly out Sat. when the weather is clear. Sooooo, because I'm a nice person I'm driving back to Sac and taking the early bird to Minneapolis then turning around in the afternoon on Mon. Wish I could be one of you guys right now.....boy do I wish.

Marx finally threw me a bone. Ok here's the good news. I was accepted into Michigan State and the University of Minnesota. Minnesota was soooooo kind enough to offer me a 5-year funding package including research dinero for summers. The best part is I might not have to teach....ever! Bittersweet news also arrived ; rejected by the UofO AGAIN last week, denied by Wisconsin this week. Six more to go but as of now it looks like I'm movin to the Midwest and hangin' out with Prince. Ahhhhhhh, Minneapolis, the city of the heated sidewalks. Look out comrades there's gonna be a sickle and hammer rising in the 10,000 lake state. Go Golden Gophers!

Ok.......yesterday I had an awkward moment with three of my little cousins. To be exact it wasn't necessarily one of those bonding episodes I so like with my future comrades. Instead I was forced to explain to them the "birds and the bees". What is one to do!? Quickly trying to change themes, my perdicament was resolved by telling another story of passion and survivial.....oh yes, proletariat liberation. "O.k. boys and girls I'm going to talk to you about two unattractive figures who I'm sure got busy once in awhile. We're going to talk about Che and Mao." I couldn't help from noticing a sign of confusion in their faces for obvious purposes, but the really trouble was yet to come. First I had to restrain the youngest (6 yrs.) from running around the house chanting "Che Che Guevara Che Che Guevara!" (Oh yeah, by the way this was at my aunt's house were a few women were having a Bible study and I was the designated babysitter.)
In the end the sex talk turned into a propaganda campaign, however, it did not prevent one of them from vilifying my so well pictured utopian society tale when saying...."this sex story stucked Nando."

This week I re-read Franz Fanon's "The Wretched of the Earth." Though many of my former militant friends from the UofO would disagree that this is not exactly the best "recreational" read, it does have some other value. Hmmm, like continuing to fuel one's hatred towards bourgeois revisionists and bitches of the state. Fanon was no sucker. Instead of wondering 'what would Jesus do" I ask "what would Fanon do?"

I just heard some exciting news today, depending on how you take it I guess, about a former dictator in Chile. Yes, Augusto Pinochet is on his death-bed. In case you don't know who this piece of crap was....he was dictator of Chile for more than 10 yrs., murdered suspected "subversives", anti-left, and was a U.S. whore. He faciliated the coup that toppled the democartically elected Marxist, Salvador Allende (who during the coup lost his life). So as morbid as this might sound I'm sure that I share the same sentiments with my Chilean comrades. Finally, maybe, some reconciliation. But yet, he's still alive.

Oh Humboldt County. Yes, the once (and probably still is) location where the best Mary Jane was being grown is now being know for what it really is.....lots of freakin' rain and more rain. Ohhhhhh what I would do to be back home in my one bedroom apartment watching episode after episode of "Family Guy" and reminiscing about my graduate student years.....However, since my return to East Fortuna I have been indulged with by my mother's awesome cooking and not my brother's pestering and nagging. "Hey Fern..can I get the new $200 Nike soccer shoes for Christmas", I guess you have to take the bitter for the sweet.
The new job is going well......The people are great and the "natural" food is an interesting experience. Shitttttt...I eat menudo homies, now that's natural. Also, does anyone have the answer to why so many hippies can afford eating organic?

Why is Marxism essential at this moment? Can’t we just admit that there’s a crisis; the working class continues to be exploited.
Pro-capitalists attempt to present the inkling that Marxism is an unintelligible, ambiguous, confusing, and uninteresting canon. Raise them whichever issue about the social order, and they will seek to reply it with some oversimplification. For example:
-Individuals are, as you would expect, self-seeking.
-Everybody can rise themselves up the social latter.
-Without rich people’s money there wouldn’t be any work for the proletariat.
-How do we go about politicizing the workers, it’s just too difficult

Hmmmmm....maybe they're making this arguments simply because they feel threaten by a socialist revolution, have yet to politicize correctly, ARE fueled by personal interests, or simply because they love screwing people. I'm watching you........

Sorry for having been MIA for a few days......actually a week or so. Things have been quite crazy: the move home, grad school application, etc. However, now that I'm settled in Humboldt once again after being in the mountain's of Eugene I will regularly be dedicating some time to my blog. In other news my new job begins tomorrow as a butcher. Not necessarily to excited about the situation but.......at least I'm a proletariat again. I once again will have to "trust the steel."

Once again I'm on the job market. I unfortunately lost my job at the study abroad institute for reasons I had no control over. Despite my lose I was very happy to have been a part of a study abroad program. My plan thus far is to move back home with the folks and try to save a little extra money for the revolution. The abrupt move from proletariat to lumpen-proletariat is a tough one. So, with hammer and sickle in hand, (or tattooed) I will return to the mountains of Humboldt County.

As of today I have three different versions of my thesis. The third being the one I hope to publish sometime in the future. This short hiatus from academia has allowed me to write and research more freely, at my own pace. So far I've found a few gaps that I need to bridge together to make more sense. The history of revolutionary movements in Mexico is complicating as it should be, right? Ideological differences, Trotskyites against Maoists, Anarchists against orthodox-Communists, social democrats against all armed organizations, and peasants against the proletariat. What fun? Why is it that I get an image of a bunch of children fighting in a sandbox over toys.

Far From Reconciliation

I recently began reading a book titled "The Rigoberta Menchu controversy" by David Stoll.......a revisionist and loser. Remember, Marx, Che, Mao, Lenin warned us of these people. The book attacks the authenticity of a testimony by a Mayan women from Guatemala who spoke out against the repressive brutality of the Guatemalan government sponsored by: born again Christians, anti-communists, U.S. sponsored weapons, and belligerent bourgeoisie citizens from the early 1960s-1990. You see, like in most revolutionary cases in Central America during this era the peasants and the proletariat finally said fuck you to the existing political system and rose up in arms. David Stoll however makes it his life time goal to research the authenticity of the testimony and concludes that most of the stories told by Ms. Menchu were fabricated. No only has this manipulative intellectual insulted people who lost entire families during these repressive years, but he has also made himself out to be a complete ass. Why? First, of all he interviewed people who resented the Menchu family. Second of all, who in their right mind would argue that Ms. Menhu's father and brothers were not burned alive, instead they had been executed and thrown into a mass grave. Yeah, that sounds better. Asshole.....

It's getting to be that time of the year. I'm once again prepared to tap the ink. I can't wait to experience 2-3 hours of modest pain. Though it's great therapy......I have four in mind (one displayed). In keeping with my pre-conquest and fight the machine theme I figured I would dedicate some space to my indigenous roots. Not displayed are various Mayan glyphs, and the word PUREPECHA (my native background) written in old English characters on my back.

MEXICAN, CHICANO, MEXICAN-AMERICAN, or frijolero?

During one of my excursions to a favorite bookstore of mine I began to read an employment application that was left on one of the reading chairs. Nothing too exciting, just your traditional application. However, if it were me filling it out I probably would get stuck on question 10 section 4.....you know, the part where they ask you to fill in your ethnicity. Now....here comes the bitching minority act. Hispanic is not an ethnicity! There is no Hispania. Latino-I sure as hell don't speak Latin. No offense Jeff. I guess that my beef is really with Chicano and Mex-Amer. To many it's the same thing. But to Tex-Mex Republican's like ohhh what the hell is his name... Alberto Gonzalez, its American not Mex-Amer. Chicano is some how or another a "militant" term according to some frijoleros (beaners). Cool!
I consider myself Mexican, how? Because I took the you know you're a Mexican if...
1) you call your shoes "tenis"
2) you're constantly asked if you own a lowrider
3) you go to a social event and ask "where are the tortillas"?
4) your parents have calenders from every Mexican bakery
5) you get constantly asked what's the best way to grow tomatoes, strawberries, etc
6) you think it takes 15min to get everywhere
7) you constantly use "basically"
8) you have an aunt named Chela and uncle named Chepe
9) as a student your response to every question is Zapata Rocks cabrones!!!!!!
That's why I'm Mexican.

Last night I had the oddest experience with a couple of Catholic female friends of mine. A late night burrito turned into an hour of sermons. Instead of journeying to my own Heaven (Burrito Boy, gotta try the carne asada wet burrito) I was instead manipulated into going to an evening mass. Hungry and pissed, I managed to contain my anger. The milieu was typical of a Latino mass: children running around, people singing hymns, and 2 angry comrades (well not entirely typical) hungry and angry at the females who seem to believe it is their duty to save them.
Note to self: next time tell party you will meet them wherever they plan to meet, be suspicious about late night dinners, there are a lot of Mexicans in Eugene, wear a Mexican wedding shirt in lieu of a Che Guevara t-shirt.

What better place to exhibit socialist propaganda and not have to pay for it then a blog. After months of bashing blog spots, or maybe its just simply envy that my life is not as exciting as the blogs I read, I have been sold by temptation and begun my own.
My times as a student-proletariat has fallen into a short hiatus, the revolution for the time being has been put on hold while I venture into the bourgeoisie lifestyle and becoming a cantankerous capitalist hog.......Yeah right! More from the mountains of the Northwest.
